The Libra Theatre Café is a creative, community-led venue in Camden, supporting artists and audiences through theatre, food and connection. We are looking for two passionate, reliable cooks to share responsibility for our kitchen and help us build a simple, delicious breakfast and brunch menu.
Although you will not work the same shifts, you and the other cook must work as a team, staying aligned on menu, standards and systems.
This is a brilliant role for someone who loves cooking and baking, enjoys working independently, and wants real creative input.
Your working days will be Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm.
During August the working times will differ due to the Camden Fringe festival.
You will be one of the two cooks running the kitchen, responsible for:

Creating and developing a simple breakfast and brunch menu

Cooking and baking fresh food to a high standard

Run the kitchen independently on your shift

Ensuring timely service during busy periods

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations at all times

Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation

Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to ensure a safe working environment for all staff
You will have creative freedom but also shared responsibility to keep everything consistent.
Requirements

Previous experience in baking, cooking, or a kitchen environment is essential

Food safety standards and procedures certificates

Confidence working alone in the kitchen

Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure

Good communication skills and a positive attitude

Ability to work flexibly, including during busy service times

A genuine interest in culinary arts

We are seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Café staff to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest services, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop hospitality skills within a creative setting.
Your working hours will be Monday-Thursday 9:30am-3:30pm.
During August the working times will differ due to the Camden Fringe festival.
Duties

Take orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring guest satisfaction through friendly service

Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages in accordance with health and safety standards

Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and bar equipment throughout shifts

Upsell menu items to enhance guest experience and maximise sales opportunities
-
Handle transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems
-
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations during service hours
-
Provide excellent guest services by addressing enquiries promptly and courteously
-
Follow food safety procedures diligently to ensure compliance with hygiene regulations
-
Assist with basic food preparation tasks as required, supporting kitchen staff when necessary
-
Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service delivery
Experience
-
Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings and barista skills are essential
-
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper serving techniques is advantageous
-
Experience in food preparation or culinary roles will be considered a plus
-
Familiarity with kitchen operations or previous kitchen experience is beneficial but not mandatory

Strong organisational skills, time management, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure are highly valued

A friendly attitude with excellent guest service skills is crucial for success in this role
